Flooring professionals were very quick to embrace the click installation systems and most manufacturers have stopped manufacturing the traditional Tongue and Groove (T&G) glue systems altogether. So we asked professional installers what they like and dislike about click flooring to see if the products are aimed at DIY market.

• The first three rows of an installation are crucial to the success of the installation and with the old T&G system they had to be strapped together to get them straight. With click floors there is no need to strap the floor. Getting a straight line is easy.
   
• I can easily install 40 - 50 square metres a day, reducing the installation time and increasing my earnings.
   
• Click flooring is great, it is quick to install and holds together better than T&G.
   
• Click is ideal for most installations, they can be difficult if going through doorways, but the trick is to remove the click system (bottom lip) on the grooved board so the next board does not have to be raised at an angle to fit. It becomes a T&G glue system which can be knocked under the door jambs. Once through the door you can go back to the click system.   

The resounding answer was these floors save time and are easy to install. A handy person with minimal tools can get a professional looking installation.
